About the Role

We are seeking a Sessional Family General Practitioner to join our clinician-led team in Fourways. In this role, you will provide top-tier primary care services across all age groups within a highly organized and supportive practice environment. Operating under the clinical and operational direction of the Clinical Lead, you will provide critical clinical capacity, managing acute, chronic, and preventative health conditions during scheduled sessions.
This role is ideal for a practitioner who thrives in a coordinated, demand-aligned model of care and values clinical efficiency and strong patient continuity.
Key Responsibilities
As a Sessional Family GP, your duties will include:
- Family Medicine & Primary Care: Assess, diagnose, and manage acute conditions (infections, minor injuries) and chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes, asthma) for patients of all ages.
- Continuity of Care: Provide routine follow-up consultations, monitor clinical progress, and adjust treatment plans to support ongoing patient health.
- Clinical Decision-Making & Escalation: Conduct comprehensive clinical histories and examinations, interpret investigations, and make appropriate referrals to specialists, hospitals, or allied practitioners when needed.
- Preventative Care: Promote preventative screening, support the early identification of chronic conditions, and encourage patient adherence to treatment plans.
- Sessional Delivery: Deliver clinical services reliably during scheduled sessions, managing consultation flow to ensure excellent patient access.
- Practice Integration: Collaborate seamlessly with internal multidisciplinary teams and adhere to established workflows and protocols under the direction of the Clinical Lead.
- Compliance: Maintain meticulous, accurate, and complete electronic patient records in line with HPCSA and regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
- Registration: Current, active registration with the HPCSA.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in a primary care, general practice, or outpatient setting.
- Skills: Strong clinical reasoning, the ability to manage undifferentiated presentations, and excellent time management/consultation flow skills.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with both patients and the broader medical team.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working in private practice or highly structured clinical environments.
- Familiarity with family or general practice multidisciplinary care models.
