Job Advert Summary

The General Manager role will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and commercial direction for SAHBA initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, customer-centric programme delivery and sustainable operational efficiencies.

The General Manager will take accountability for the efficient and effective running of all SAHBA initiatives. The key responsibility is to also engage stakeholders such as all education partners, strategic partners and internal PPS partners.


Minimum Requirements


Formal Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business/operations or relevant filed of study
  • Post graduate degree would be advantageous


Experience:

  • At least 5 -7 years’ experience in the insurance industry
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership or general management role
  • Demonstrated success managing insurance operations.
  • Experience working with universities or educational institutions.
  • Project management experience


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of best practise in financial services
  • Knowledge of design and delivery of learning programmes.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of learning methodologies such as LMS, virtual learning platforms or digital content development tools.


Duties and Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the division’s business strategy and annual operating plan.
  • Lead business transformation initiatives including digitalisation, customer experience, and process optimisation.
  • Key liaison between PPS and SAHBA director and central liaison between SAHBA and all other stakeholders such as
  • universities and professional associations.

Business and Financial Performance

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial management for the division.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all education partners, strategic partners and internal PPS partners.
  • Ensure strong base and risk management practices.

Operations and Service Delivery

  • Manage end to end operations for SAHBA initiatives with the agreed service-level standards.
  • Resource planning and overseeing of training logistics.
  • Support the programme director with the design and development of the SAHBA initiatives.
  • Oversee performance and delivery for the initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
  • Implement robust governance, internal controls and risk-management protocols.
  • Compile regulatory reports and represent the Academy in regulatory audits.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Regularly engage with programme director, university committees and key partners of SAHBA.
  • Maintain strong internal and external relationships in order to drive efficiencies.
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness for all programmes and initiatives.
