PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Field Marketer is responsible for executing in-store marketing activities, product demonstrations, merchandising standards, promotional campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives across the Cape Town region.

The role is designed to strengthen Exim’s market presence at store level, improve promotional execution, support customer relationships, and create increased product awareness and demand. The incumbent will work closely with the Regional Sales Manager and Sales Representatives to drive sales growth through effective execution of marketing and sales support activities.

This position also serves as a development role within the sales structure, providing exposure to customer management, product knowledge, and commercial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotional Activations and Demonstrations
  • Plan and execute in-store product demonstrations and wet demos.
  • Conduct product tastings, sampling activities, and promotional events.
  • Assist with new product launches and customer promotional campaigns.
  • Educate customers and consumers on product features and benefits.
  • Ensure promotional objectives are achieved and accurately reported.
  • Coordinate promotional requirements with customers and store management.
  • Merchandising and Brand Visibility
  • Ensure Exim products are merchandised according to agreed standards.
  • Maintain product visibility and shelf presence within stores.
  • Ensure point-of-sale material is displayed correctly and remains in good condition.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate stock shortages to the sales team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product presentation and visibility.
  • Customer Engagement and Relationship Building
  • Develop professional working relationships with store managers, department managers, and key store personnel.
  • Provide feedback on customer requirements and concerns.
  • Support customer service initiatives and assist in resolving minor customer issues.
  • Promote a positive image of the Exim brand at all times.
  • Sales Support
  • Assist Sales Representatives with customer coverage and follow-up activities.
  • Support customer visits where required.
  • Assist with telesales activities and customer communication.
  • Identify opportunities for additional product listings and range extensions.
  • Generate leads and communicate sales opportunities to the sales team.
  • Collections Support
  • Assist with customer account follow-ups and collections where required.
  • Support the sales team in resolving account-related queries.
  • Escalate collection concerns to management when necessary.
  • Market Intelligence
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing, promotions, and activities.
  • Report competitor activity within the market.
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and threats within the region.
  • Reporting and Administration
  • Complete weekly activity and call reports.
  • Record all promotional activities and customer interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of store visits and activations.
  • Submit required reports within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure company assets and promotional materials are managed responsibly.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Minimum of 2 promotional activations per week.
  • Customer visit targets achieved.
  • Merchandising compliance standards maintained.
  • Point-of-sale material correctly implemented.
  • Promotional execution completed according to plan.
  • Customer feedback and market intelligence submitted timeously.
  • Collections support activities completed when required.
  • Positive contribution to regional sales growth.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (Matric) essential.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
  • Previous FMCG, merchandising, retail, hospitality, or promotional experience advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Own reliable vehicle.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Well-presented and professional.
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including promotional events and occasional Saturdays.

Pay: R10 000,00 – R14 000,00 per month
