A highly respected and established automotive retail group is seeking an experienced Dealer Principal to lead the sales operations of a successful multi-franchise dealership in Durban.
This is a rare opportunity for a proven automotive leader to take ownership of a high-performing dealership environment, driving sales performance, developing teams, building customer relationships, and maintaining strong OEM engagement.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished leader with a demonstrable track record of delivering sales growth, achieving manufacturer targets, recruiting and developing top-performing staff, and creating a culture of accountability and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all sales operations across the dealership.
- Drive new and used vehicle sales performance and profitability.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve and exceed manufacturer targets.
- Recruit, mentor, motivate, and retain high-performing sales teams and departmental leaders.
- Maintain strong relationships with OEM representatives and regional management.
- Analyse performance data and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and brand representation.
- Manage operational budgets, forecasting, and departmental performance.
- Collaborate with supporting departments to ensure overall dealership success.
- Champion a positive, professional, and results-driven culture throughout the business.
Minimum Requirements
- Extensive senior management experience within a franchised motor dealership.
- Previous experience as a Dealer Principal, General Manager, Senior Sales Manager, or equivalent executive leadership role.
- Proven ability to consistently achieve and exceed OEM sales targets.
- Strong understanding of manufacturer standards, reporting, compliance, and dealer network requirements.
- Demonstrated success in staff recruitment, development, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive profitability and operational excellence.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Stable employment history with a proven track record of achievement.
- Relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
