VACANCY: YELLOW EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – JOHANNESBURG
A well-established company based in Johannesburg is currently seeking to employ a skilled and experienced Yellow Equipment Mechanic to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of various types of earthmoving and yellow equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
This position is ideal for a motivated and experienced mechanic who has strong technical knowledge of heavy machinery and is capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience working as a Yellow Equipment / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic
- Experience working on machinery such as excavators, front-end loaders, graders, TLBs, bulldozers, and other earthmoving equipment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Experience in mechanical repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical diagrams
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and mechanical components
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license will be advantageous
- Relevant mechanical qualification or trade certification will be beneficial
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on yellow equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and engine-related faults
- Inspect machinery to identify potential mechanical issues and prevent breakdowns
- Carry out repairs and component replacements where required
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and company standards
- Assist in minimizing equipment downtime by performing efficient and effective repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
