Warehouse Distribution Supervisor (Night Shift) Jobs in Grand Rapids, MI at S. Abraham & Sons, Inc.
Summary
Trains and directs all functions relating to stamping, order selecting, order processing, loading, and general housekeeping of the warehouse. Schedule for this position is Sunday – Thursday starting at 8pm with ability to work 9+ hours per day to ensure production numbers are met.
Essential Functions
- This position will oversee all production employees.
- Supervises and trains employees on respective shift.
- Makes recommendations for improving the efficiency of the operation.
- Assigns work schedules and job assignments.
- Approves the time cards for hours worked and absences.
- Maintains good housekeeping practices and promotes safety.
- Assisting with other supervisors.
Safety
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Schedules daily staff assignments.
- Recommends terminations to the respective Shift Manager.
- Coordinates workflow throughout the warehouse.
Competencies
- Must possess motivational skills and the ability to train and develop personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Must have the ability to problem solve.
- Must have the ability to multitask.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse setting. The facility is not mechanically temperature controlled. The floor surface is concrete and wood. The noise level is moderate with no vibration.
Physical Demands
Moderate walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; exposure to dampness and humidity; work on ladders and scaffolding; exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces. Travel
Very little to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have minimum 3 years experience in warehouse supervision.
- Background in material handling, order selection or production.
