Cat Depot, a free-roaming cat rescue, medical, and adoption center, is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team of cat lovers! The ideal candidate will support the medical team by having excellent cleaning and feeding detail, possess outstanding powers of observation and documentation, and have a strong work history. This position is ideal for a Veterinary Assistant with experience who has the desire to learn and grow into becoming a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Nurse!
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during exams, surgeries, treatments and other procedures.
- Handle and restrain safely and effectively using Fear Free techniques.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Setup laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures.
- Setup for surgeries, dental procedures, and ultrasound.
- Administer medications.
- Monitor the health of cats in our care and report changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, treatments, and medications.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal rescue is required
- Fear Free training or willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- A genuine love for cats and commitment to their welfare.
