Utility Locator Jobs in Ogden, UT at Connext
Connext is seeking a reliable and safety-driven Fiber Locator / Utility Locator to support our growing fiber network operations. This role is responsible for accurately locating, marking, and documenting underground fiber optic facilities, as well as assisting with general construction and maintenance activities.
This is a field-based position that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, operating in both residential and remote environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Locate and mark underground fiber optic plant safely, accurately, and efficiently
- Document all locate tickets, including photos and required reporting
- Operate from a company vehicle and use a company-provided laptop to close tickets
- Inspect fiber plant and identify damaged or unlocatable sections
- Install tracer wire when required to ensure accurate future locating
- Perform general construction duties including loading, digging, material handling, and site cleanup
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling
- Work around heavy equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and trucks
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure safe coordination with crew and equipment
- Enter and exit vehicles and equipment regularly throughout the day
- Perform work in congested urban areas or remote job sites
- Support Foreman/Supervisor with assigned construction tasks
- Assist with flagging, site restoration, and property cleanup
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of utility locating experience (Required)
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Required)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials and equipment
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery and construction environments
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: Starting at $21.00 per hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
