Supervisor Electrical Department Jobs in Pretoria at Specialist Mechanical Engineers

Purpose of the Role

To supervise and coordinate daily electrical manufacturing activities ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality output in line with production plans, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.

Job Duties

· Execute daily and weekly production plans within the Electrical department

· Allocate work, manpower, and resources to meet production targets and deadlines

· Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action to maintain throughput

· Ensure on-time completion of work orders in line with schedules

· Supervise, coach, and support team

· Conduct daily shift briefings and communicate priorities clearly

· Manage attendance, discipline, and performance in line with company policies

· Identify skills gaps and support training and development initiatives

· Ensure adherence to quality standards, drawings, and specifications across all processes

· Daily capturing of measurements in line with procedure requirements

· Providing feedback to improve work instructions and procedures

· Enforce inspection and testing requirements at key production stages

· Address non-conformances and implement corrective actions

· Enforce safe working practices and compliance with HSE policies and procedures

· Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections

· Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of machinery and equipment

· Report and investigate incidents and near misses

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency

· Drive best practises to ensure productivity, reduce wastes and downtime and minimize defects

· Liaise with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Quality teams to resolve production issues

· Provide regular updates on production progress, risks, and constraints

· Escalate critical issues impacting delivery, quality, or safety

· Ensure machinery and equipment are used effectively and maintained appropriately

· Ensure equipment and machinery are calibrated at all times

· Coordinate with maintenance teams for breakdowns and preventative maintenance

· Monitor material usage and minimize waste

Qualifications

· N6 Electrical Engineering and/or

· BTech Electrical Engineering

Experience and Skills

· Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment

· Experience manufacturing electrical components, sub systems and systems

· Experience in DB box wiring and installations will be advantageous

· Experience in military harness manufacturing and wiring installations will be advantageous

· Knowledge of quality standards and shop-floor best practices

· Computer literacy eg Microsoft office packages and ERP systems

· IPC 620 certification will be advantageous.
