Medleb Private Hospital is a modern, state-of-the-art private healthcare facility committed to delivering quality medical care to the communities of Lebowakgomo and surrounding areas. We are currently seeking a diligent, detail-oriented, and proactive individual to join our team as a Stock Controller.

About the Role

As a Stock Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient management of hospital inventory, including medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and consumables. You will maintain optimal stock levels to support uninterrupted patient care while minimising waste and controlling costs.

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Monitor and maintain accurate stock levels of all hospital supplies and inventory
  • Conduct regular stock counts, reconciliations, and audits
  • Place purchase orders and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment
  • Track stock movements, receipts, issues, and transfers within the hospital
  • Analyse usage patterns to forecast demand and prevent stockouts or overstocking
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the inventory management system
  • Prepare weekly and monthly stock reports for management
  • Identify and report slow-moving, expired, or damaged stock
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, health regulations, and procurement procedures
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy, Procurement, Finance, and clinical departments

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate (essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Inventory Management, or a related field (advantageous)
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ proven experience as a Stock Controller, Inventory Clerk, or similar role (preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment)
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices
  • Experience with inventory/ERP software systems
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must be computer literate (especially MS Excel)

2. CRITICAL OUTPUTS

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records with above 98% stock accuracy
  • Ensure optimal stock levels to prevent stockouts and minimise overstocking / obsolescence
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and reconciliations
  • Timely processing of goods received notes (GRN), issues, and transfers
  • Effective management of slow-moving, expired, and damaged stock with prompt reporting and disposal
  • Accurate forecasting of stock requirements based on consumption patterns
  • Timely placement and follow-up of purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
  • Generate and analyse monthly stock reports (stock movement, value, variance, and expiry reports)
  • Maintain strong control over high-value and high-risk items (e.g. surgical sundries, medicines, implants)
  • Ensure full compliance with hospital policies, DOH regulations, and internal audit requirements
