Sales Assistant — Hardware & Admin Jobs in Phoenix at Delta Paints & Plastics

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Sales Assistant to join our team. You’ll be the first point of contact for trade customers and DIY enthusiasts alike — guiding them to the right products, closing sales with confidence, and keeping our back-office running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows their way around a hardware store and isn’t afraid to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in finding and selecting the right tools, materials, and hardware products
  • Drive floor sales and meet monthly targets through product knowledge and upselling
  • Process sales, quotes, and customer orders using our point-of-sale system
  • Manage stock levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Handle admin tasks: filing, supplier correspondence, purchase orders, and basic reporting
  • Keep the store floor clean, stocked, and well-merchandised at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a retail sales role
  • Proven background in a hardware, building materials, or trade supply environment
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic POS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications or technical data sheets
  • Willing to commute to Phoenix Industrial Park, Durban

Nice to have

  • Experience with trade accounts and B2B customer relationships
  • Familiarity with stock management software (e.g. IQ Retail, Sage, or similar)

Pay: R7 000,00 – R10 000,00 per month
