The Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged (CPOA) is seeking a dedicated, emotionally intelligent and resilient Manager to lead our Trianon facility in Diep River.
This role calls for a unique balance — someone who is warm, patient and compassionate, yet confident, assertive when engaging with residents, families, contractors and staff.
About the Role
As Manager, you will take full responsibility for the overall operations of the facility, ensuring a safe, well-managed, and supportive environment for residents.
You will work closely with the Nurse Manager to oversee resident care, while also managing staff, operations, finances, and the day-to-day running of the home.
This is a hands-on leadership role where people skills are just as important as operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Care & Well-being (Top Priority)
- Ensure the overall well-being, dignity, and safety of all residents
- Maintain a visible and approachable “open door” management style
- Conduct daily resident check-ins and follow up on concerns
- Work closely with the Nurse Manager on all health-related matters
- Support resident engagement, activities, and community life
- Facilitate smooth admissions and welcome new residents
Family Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build respectful and professional relationships with residents’ families
- Handle concerns with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries
- Confidently manage challenging situations and ensure the best interests of residents are upheld at all times
Operations, Finance & Administration
- Manage the cost centre in line with approved budgets
- Ensure all financial controls, procurement, and reporting are adhered to
- Oversee petty cash, invoicing, and monthly returns
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures
Housekeeping, Catering & Facility Standards
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation
- Oversee catering services and ensure meals meet required standards
- Monitor stock control and ensure cost efficiency
Maintenance & Facilities Oversight
- Ensure the buildings, grounds, and equipment are well maintained
- Oversee maintenance schedules and service providers
- Maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment
Staff Leadership
- Lead, support, and manage all staff within the facility
- Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and discipline
- Foster a positive, accountable, and respectful workplace culture
- Ensure staff rosters and operations run smoothly
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Maintain a secure and safe environment for residents and staff
- Manage and report incidents in line with requirements
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 08h00 – 16h00
- Extended hours may be required based on operational needs
- Participation in after-hours and weekend standby on a roster basis
- On-call responsibility as required
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in managing a residential, healthcare, or similar environment
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach when dealing with elderly residents
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations tactfully
- Confidence to address challenges directly and maintain professional boundaries
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Financial and operational management experience
- A relevant formal qualification will be advantageous
