Lift Technician / Lift Mechanic

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Lift Technician to join our Cape Town operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of elevators and escalators, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on lifts (passenger lifts, goods lifts, stair lifts) and escalators.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot issues in motors, switches, brakes, control systems, and signal equipment.
- Use appropriate testing equipment and tools, including test lamps, ammeters, and voltmeters.
- Install and connect electrical wiring to control panels and electric motors.
- Maintain and adjust safety mechanisms, counterweights, door systems, valves, ratchets, seals, and brake components.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety regulations and building codes.
- Complete service and inspection reports confirming equipment condition and compliance.
- Participate in planned overtime and after-hours standby schedules when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Trade Tested Lift Technician / Lift Mechanic
- 2 – 5 years’ experience working specifically with lifts and escalators (essential)
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems
Advantageous:
- Electrical or Mechanical qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
