Lead Technician – Supervisor: Mold Remediation & Water RestorationOverview

Lead Technician – Supervisors occupy a critical role in overseeing the technical execution of environmental remediation and water mitigation projects. This position is responsible for ensuring that all field operations meet the highest industry standards for "medically important" remediation and structural drying. By combining advanced technical expertise in moisture physics with strong leadership skills, the Lead Technician guides field crews through complex site stabilizations, containment setups, and controlled demolition in both residential and commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and Mentor field remediation crews, ensuring all team members adhere to strict safety protocols and technical procedures for microbial abatement.
  • Oversee Moisture Mitigation and mold remediation projects from initial site stabilization to post-remediation verification (PRV).
  • Implement IICRC Standards, specifically the S500 (Water Damage) and S520 (Mold Remediation), to ensure every project meets the "Standard of Care" required for sensitive environments.
  • Execute Moisture Mapping using infrared thermography, penetrating moisture meters, and hygrometers to track drying progress and identify hidden intrusion points.
  • Direct Containment Construction, ensuring the setup of 6-mil polyethylene barriers and the maintenance of negative air pressure using HEPA-filtered air scrubbers.
  • Troubleshoot Structural Challenges, including the assessment of specialized building materials like SIP panels or complex crawlspace assemblies to ensure all fungal reservoirs are identified.
  • Document Project Progress through digital platforms (such as Encircle, Dash, or Procore), maintaining accurate atmospheric logs, moisture readings, and photo documentation for client and insurance records.
  • Coordinate with Clients and third-party Indoor Environmental Professionals (IEPs) to explain the scope of work and ensure a successful "Condition 1" (Normal Fungal Ecology) outcome.

Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Proven Experience in a lead or supervisory role within the restoration, remediation, or environmental consulting industry.
  • Active IICRC Certifications, specifically WRT (Water Restoration Technician) and AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician), are highly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge of industrial equipment, including high-capacity dehumidifiers (LGR), negative air machines, HEPA vacuums, and air movers.
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude related to building science, including an understanding of how moisture moves through wall cavities and impacts structural members like OSB and drywall.
  • Proficiency in Diagnostic Tools, including the use of thermal imaging cameras and advanced moisture detection equipment.
  • Leadership and Management Skills with a track record of supervising field teams and managing multiple project timelines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Safety Standards, including OSHA regulations, the proper use of PPE (N95/P100 respirators and Tyvek), and lead/asbestos awareness.
  • Physical Capability to work in confined spaces (attics/crawlspaces), lift heavy equipment, and perform "investigative demolition" as required by the scope of work.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean record; ability to lead a mobile team and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
