Junior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Trainee Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this entry-level role, you will primarily assist with financial record keeping, reporting, and various accounting tasks, providing essential support to our accounting operations. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Help reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Support the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices.
• Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.
• Provide administrative support to senior accountants, including data entry and filing.
• Collaborate with team members on month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• A relevant degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Demonstrable experience with basic accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with accounting software such as Sage or Pastel is a plus.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance is desirable.
• Willingness to obtain further accounting certifications (e.g., SAIPA, ACCA) in the future.
• A proactive attitude towards learning and self-improvement.
