Role Description: This is an entrepreneurial, commission-based opportunity for someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships, and growing brands. Your primary focus will be introducing Metaal products to retailers, securing new stockists, and developing strong partnerships that support long-term growth. Day-to-day tasks include prospecting for new business, following up on leads, managing a sales pipeline, preparing quotes, and submitting regular sales reports. You will also gather market feedback, monitor competitor activity, and collaborate with the internal team on stock planning, merchandising, and promotional activities. Representing Metaal at trade shows, events, and key customer meetings will be an important part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in field sales, account management, or business development, ideally in outdoor, lifestyle, sporting goods, or related consumer products.
  • Strong customer relationship and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and close deals in a professional, ethical manner.
  • Solid organisational and time-management abilities, including managing a sales territory, planning customer visits, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Comfort with basic digital tools (email, spreadsheets, CRM or sales tracking systems) and the ability to prepare clear proposals and sales reports.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transport, and willingness to travel regularly in and around Cape Town and surrounding regions.
  • Knowledge or genuine interest in outdoor and lifestyle products, and the ability to explain product benefits clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional local languages are an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Relevant qualification in sales, marketing, business, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory when supported by strong experience.
