Requirements
- A relevant B Tech or Bachelor’s degree in Economics,
Business, Management or related field.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in a similar
position
- Extensive managerial experience.
- Experience in project management
- Understanding of the Informal Economy
- Understanding of Local Government
- Experience in working with communities
- A valid Code B/EB drivers’ licence
Key Performance Areas
- Lead, manage and coordinate operations within the Public
Trading department and drive service delivery from an
economic development perspective.
- Manage the allocation of public trading opportunities,
including informal, formal, mobile trading bays and other
trading forms within the area, using the City’s Informal
Trading Permit System (ITPS) or similar system.
- Manage the identification, development and implementation
of public trading plans and ensure compliance.
- Lead, manager and supervise day-to-day implementation
Local Economic Development, Informal Economy Support
and Capacity Building programmes and projects.
- Drive enablement-first economic development outcomes in
the area by improving the predictability of trading
environments (tenure stability, management regimes,
reduced operational disruptions).
- Assume responsibility for interfacing with key area
stakeholders such as Councillor, Subcouncils, community
representatives, private sector, etc to provide regular
reports and information.
- Manage, supervise and mentor, as well as allocate
programmes and projects to direct staff members.
- Determine the budgetary requirements for branch projects
and programmes.
- Monitor and track performance against approved budgets
and address deviations/variances.
