BASIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Assign tasks, organize schedules, meet with various management daily to schedule assignments, complete janitorial tasks per specifications, examine buildings to ensure the work meets established standards
  • Investigate complaints about janitorial service, manage inventories of cleaning equipment and alert the supervisor of inventory issues. Produce reports as needed and monitor attendance to meet standards and staffing requirements.
  • Complete cleaning duties in the event of short staffing, provide training to new hires and current workers, recommend promotions and performance improvement initiatives, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform all necessary responsibilities to facilitate the efficiency of the Building Management Services division of Hudson Community Enterprises
  • Buffing floors; stripping and waxing floors; stone care; carpet cleaning; carpet spotting; upholstery cleaning.
  • General cleaning, including, but not limited to: trash removal; dusting; cleaning restrooms, break rooms, offices, conference rooms; sweeping and mopping floors; vacuuming floors; window washing; other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in training, monitoring, and evaluation of in-house and off-site workers and others as directed.
  • Perform yearly worker evaluations
  • Supervise outside contracts
  • Supervise maintenance activities within and outside HCE buildings maintaining acceptable levels of cleanliness.
  • Manage, train, and motivate offsite workers
  • Provide oversight of assigned sites
  • Develop relationships with contracted Site Managers
  • Select members for each job (in conjunction with their counselor) and properly supervise work performed.
  • Communicate with each member’s counselor regarding performance, progress, problems
  • Ensures that all contracted site workers adhere to established rules and regulations
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works towards the accomplishment of department/agency goals
  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality.
  • Practices job requirements on an accurate, timely, and regular basis.
  • Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with members, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings as assigned.
  • Meets relevant continuing educational/training requirements.
  • Completes all required documentation/paperwork accurately and within established time frames.
  • Manages Supervisors, Lead Workers, and others in maintenance and janitorial functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable):

  • Provides direct supervision to assigned staff to enhance their technical skills sets, leadership qualities, and administrative functions
  • Provides ongoing support to staff to ensure completion of job responsibilities
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s policies, applicable laws, and governmental regulatory agencies
  • Reviews staff responsibilities to determine the time frame and scope of authority, reviews staffing requirements, and allotments of available resources
  • Evaluates staff productivity and documentation of service delivery
  • Congers with staff to provide technical advice and resolve problems
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of floor care/maintenence
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a manager/supervisor
  • Valid Driver’s license

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Floor buffing: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Floor care: 3 years (Required)
  • Supervising: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver’s License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 75% (Preferred)
