Duties

  • Manage ingredient inventory, monitor freshness, and order supplies as needed to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery of orders during busy service hours.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and food safety practices.
  • Contribute to catering events or special functions by preparing sushi platters that impress guests with their artistry and flavor.
  • Uphold the restaurant’s commitment to exceptional food service by engaging positively with team members and guests alike.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to sushi, including knife skills and ingredient handling.
  • Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with food safety protocols.
  • Experience in menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry standards is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent food handling skills combined with a thorough understanding of sanitation regulations.
  • Prior kitchen experience in restaurants or catering environments that emphasize quality presentation and flavor balance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment and provide excellent customer service when interacting with guests.
