Electrician (Artisan) – 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract Jobs in Cape Town at Phanda Personnel
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician (Artisan) to join the Student Housing Residence Facilities team on a 3-month fixed-term contract. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing and monitoring electrical installations and infrastructure within a large student residence, ensuring a safe and efficient living environment.
Please note: This is a 3-month contract position with no guarantee of renewal or permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform reactive maintenance by attending to electrical faults, repairs and maintenance requests.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, test, repair and maintain electrical installations and equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Monitor and oversee the work of external contractors where required.
- Perform switching and isolation of electrical power supplies in accordance with safety procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections and condition assessments of electrical infrastructure, substations and standby power equipment.
- Identify potential risks and implement preventative maintenance measures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure completed work is signed off.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, regulations and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Assist with general building maintenance and other maintenance-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Electrical Artisan qualification with NTC3 (NQF Level 4) or an equivalent qualification.
- Successful completion of a recognised apprenticeship and a valid Trade Test.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-trade test experience in electrical installation, building maintenance and repair.
- Sound knowledge of electrical maintenance practices and wiring regulations.
- Computer literacy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when operationally required.
- Medically fit to perform the physical requirements of the role, including climbing stairs, working at heights and entering confined spaces.
