Cyber Security Analyst Jobs in Woodstock at Best Home & Electric
As a Junior Cyber Security Analyst, you will play a key role in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents across our IT infrastructure. You will work closely with IT and security teams to identify vulnerabilities, investigate threats, and ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
Threat Monitoring & Incident Response:
– Continuously monitor security systems, logs, and alerts to detect potential threats or unauthorized access.
– Assist in triaging, investigating, and responding to security incidents such as phishing attempts, malware infections, and data breaches.
– Collaborate with senior security analysts to analyze attack patterns and recommend mitigations.
– Participate in incident response exercises and contribute to the improvement of incident handling procedures.
Security Operations & Risk Management:
– Support the implementation and maintenance of security tools, including firewalls, endpoint protection, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM platforms.
– Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in our IT infrastructure.
– Help in maintaining security patch management and system hardening procedures.
– Track and document security incidents, vulnerabilities, and remediation efforts.
Compliance & Security Awareness:
– Support compliance efforts with data protection laws (e.g., POPIA) and industry security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS).
– Assist in developing security policies, procedures, and training materials for employees.
– Conduct basic cybersecurity awareness training to help employees recognize phishing and social engineering attacks.
Continuous Learning & Industry Trends:
– Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
– Work towards relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, Microsoft Security Fundamentals).
– Participate in internal cybersecurity projects and initiatives.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
– Relevant cybersecurity certifications (or willingness to obtain) such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (Associate Level) are advantageous.
Technical Skills:
– Basic understanding of network security, endpoint protection, firewalls, and encryption.
– Familiarity with SIEM tools, vulnerability scanners, and penetration testing tools.
– Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) security features.
– Some exposure to cloud security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
– Basic understanding of cyber threat intelligence, malware analysis, and security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK).
Soft Skills:
– Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to investigate security incidents and vulnerabilities.
– Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect anomalies in security logs and reports.
– Good communication skills to document incidents and explain security concepts to non-technical employees.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
