Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Laborers with previous experience working with hot mix asphalt or in road construction a plus. Will train. The ideal candidate will assist with asphalt paving projects and learn to operate various heavy equipment to ensure efficient and safe project completion. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, gaining valuable experience in heavy equipment operation and asphalt paving processes. Candidates should be reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects. Asphalt paving process is working with your hands, feet and using consistent thought process in decision making while being aware of your surroundings at all times. Must be able to communicate in English.
Responsibilities
- Assist with asphalt paving operations, including spreading and leveling asphalt materials
- Walking alongside paver operations utilizing hand tools to smooth the asphalt surface.
- Support the setup and maintenance of construction sites, including utility locating and site preparation, serving as a spotter for dump trucks and heavy equipment which consist of visual, verbal and hand communication
- Load and unload materials using dump trucks and other heavy machinery
- Perform general labor tasks related to construction site safety and cleanliness with small tools such as roller, skid steer, walk behind saw
- Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to safety protocols and project timelines
- Shoveling, sweeping, etc
- Actively involved in their own safety and the safety of fellow employees
Experience
- Prior experience in construction or asphalt paving is preferred, not necessary
- Understand verbal and visual instruction and communication
- Knowledge of safety procedures
- Experience working on construction sites with heavy machinery is a plus
- Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions
- Assess work environment for hazards
- Speaks up if seeing unsafe act
- Asks for help when needed
