We are looking for an experienced Custom Cabinet Finisher who takes ownership of their work, has a passion for quality, and understands what it takes to produce a flawless final product.

Position Summary

The Custom Cabinet Finisher is responsible for preparing, staining, painting, and finishing custom cabinetry to the highest standards. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional cabinet finishing experience and a strong understanding of wood species, coatings, spray equipment, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Sand and prepare raw wood, MDF, and previously finished surfaces for stain and paint applications.
  • Mix and apply stains, dyes, paints, primers, toners, glazes, and clear topcoats.
  • Operate and maintain HVLP and conventional spray equipment.
  • Match colors, stains, and sheens to customer samples and specifications.
  • Apply high-quality finishes with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Perform final inspections, touch-ups, and corrections as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized spray booth and finishing area.
  • Properly handle and store finishing materials and equipment.
  • Work closely with the production team to meet quality standards and production deadlines.
  • Identify and communicate any issues that could impact quality or delivery timelines.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to paints, stains, solvents, and spray equipment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on custom cabinet finishing experience.
  • Extensive experience with stain-grade and paint-grade cabinetry.
  • Experience spraying primers, conversion varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, and other professional wood coatings.
  • Strong knowledge of sanding techniques and surface preparation.
  • Ability to produce consistent, furniture-quality finishes.
  • Ability to identify and correct common finishing defects such as orange peel, runs, dry spray, fisheyes, and uneven color.
  • Ability to read and understand production drawings and finishing specifications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Preferred:

  • Experience with water-based and solvent-based finishing systems.
  • Experience with color matching and custom stain development.
  • Previous experience in a high-end custom cabinet shop.

Pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour
