Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Barn Hand and Grounds Maintenance worker to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for caring for animals, maintaining the grounds, and ensuring the overall safety and functionality of the farm environment. This position is to care for horses at two barns.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily tasks including feeding, watering, grooming, and monitoring horse health and behavior
- Operate farm equipment such as tractors and forklifts safely and efficiently
- Perform groundskeeping duties including mowing, landscaping, fencing repairs, and general cleaning of barn areas
- Conduct routine maintenance on farm machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Manage animal handling tasks with care and professionalism to ensure their safety and well-being
- Supervise or assist with other team members in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Requirements
- Prior experience in working with horses is preferred but not mandatory
- Hands-on experience with animal husbandry and animal care practices
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other farm machinery safely
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and performing general maintenance tasks
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting regularly and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Familiarity with farming or practices is highly desirable
