Café Assistant (Barista Experience Required – Franschhoek)
A well-established tourism company in Franschhoek is looking for a motivated, personable Café Assistant to join our lively café environment. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about hospitality and committed to creating memorable guest experiences.
Please note: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on barista experience is essential for this role. You must be confident and capable of producing high-quality coffee consistently during busy service periods.
What You’ll Do
- Craft all beverages and menu items to a high standard, with a strong focus on professional barista-style coffee preparation.
- Support daily stock management, including stock counts and reporting shortages.
- Deliver warm, attentive, and professional service to every guest.
- Follow all company procedures and food-safety guidelines to ensure a clean and compliant workspace.
- Assist with point-of-sale duties and provide occasional support to the kitchen team.
- Report any equipment issues promptly to management.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 year of barista experience (required).
- Understanding of food handling, kitchen hygiene, and safety best practices.
- Experience operating a POS system.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
- Ability to stay calm, organised, and efficient during high-pressure service times.
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Reliable transport.
Qualifications
- Matric (required).
- Formal barista training or certification (advantageous).
