Seeking a responsible, dependable, self-motivated individual for various duties related to our small artisan food production plant in La Valle, WI. We hire exceptional people who make learning part of their own career journey.
Responsibilities include general cheese-making production duties and sanitation of equipment.
Must be able to work independently and we are willing to train the right person.

More about our apprenticeship program:
The Carr Valley Cheese Apprenticeship Program is a long-term training initiative for individuals that aims to provide hands-on training experience to serious applicants. The direct experience obtained through the earn-and-learn program will provide access to the industry and result in a rewarding career. The apprentice will receive financial and educational support through paid mentorship over the course of 18 – 24 months to become a licensed, experienced, Cheesemaker. Internal education and training through the Center of Dairy Research at UW-Madison is provided.
Carr Valley Cheese will host qualified applicants in an immersive training experience that will allow them to learn every aspect of cheesemaking. These are apprenticeship programs that will provide the requirements to complete the 240 hours of experience necessary to receive a Cheesemaker’s License as well as a Pasteurizer Operator License. Each apprentice will be paired with an expert cheesemaker to foster a manager/mentor relationship and provide support through the process. Individuals will learn food safety, working with different cheese varieties and milk types, best practices, and even butter!
