Job Overview
We are currently seeking professional and dependable DCJS Certified Armed Security Officers to provide security services for ferry and maritime transportation operations. Officers will maintain a strong security presence while ensuring the safety of passengers, employees, visitors, vessels, and terminal property.
This position requires officers who are alert, customer-service oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced public transportation environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible armed security presence throughout ferry terminals and assigned areas
- Monitor passenger activity and terminal access points
- Conduct foot patrols of vessels, docks, parking areas, and terminal facilities
- Respond to disturbances, emergencies, and suspicious activity
- Complete detailed incident and activity reports
- Enforce site rules, safety procedures, and client policies
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers and staff
- Assist with emergency evacuations and crowd management when necessary
- Work closely with local law enforcement and site management when required
Requirements
- Must possess a current Virginia DCJS Armed Security Officer Certification
- Must have firearm endorsement and all required annual qualifications
- Reliable transportation required
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Previous armed security, military, law enforcement, or maritime security experience preferred
