ROLE OVERVIEW
The role involves managing the workshop operations, implementing preventative maintenance schedules, overseeing repairs, and ensuring all vehicles, machinery, and equipment are safe, operational, and available to support production requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all vehicles, machinery, and equipment are in good working order
- Create and manage preventative maintenance and service schedules
- Maintain communication with production managers regarding servicing and repairs
- Implement and manage workshop job card systems
- Maintain and control workshop parts and consumables stock
- Conduct regular stock takes of tools, equipment, and machinery
- Source and procure parts at best available pricing
- Perform mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and fault finding
- Conduct welding and fabrication as required
- Train staff on correct use and handling of machinery and equipment
- Oversee workshop housekeeping, safety, and organisation
- Maintain workshop records, service logs, and documentation
- Monitor workshop costs and assist with budgeting and project costing
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Recognised Qualified Technician / Mechanic qualification
- 10+ years mechanical experience
- Electrical diagnostics and fault-finding experience
- Workshop management experience
- Budgeting and financial oversight experience
- Strong administration and documentation skills
- Valid RSA Code B driver’s license (no endorsements)
- Reliable with contactable references
