Overview
Miller Contracting Services is seeking an Industrial Fabricator to support fabrication projects for mining, industrial, construction, and heavy equipment applications.
This position is focused primarily on fit-up, layout, assembly, blueprint interpretation, and fabrication preparation, with welding being a supporting function rather than the primary responsibility. The ideal candidate understands how components fit together, can work from drawings, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

What You’ll Do
Fabrication & Fit-Up
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Lay out, measure, mark, and prepare materials for fabrication
- Fit and assemble structural steel, plate work, equipment components, and assemblies
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment before welding
- Assist with fabrication of custom industrial and mining-related components
- Work closely with welders, machinists, and shop leadership to ensure accurate assemblies
Material Preparation
- Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, grinders, torches, drills, and other shop tools
- Prepare material for fabrication and assembly
- Perform material handling using forklifts, cranes, and rigging equipment when trained and authorized
- Quality & Production
- Inspect work for accuracy and conformance to drawings
- Identify and communicate fit-up issues before production delays occur
- Maintain productivity while meeting quality standards
- Support continuous improvement and efficient workflow throughout the shop
Safety
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Wear required PPE
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Participate in safety meetings and training
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of fabrication, fitting, or industrial manufacturing experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Strong measuring and layout skills
- Experience using fabrication tools and shop equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience fitting structural steel, heavy equipment, or industrial components
- Welding experience (MIG, Flux Core, Stick, or TIG)
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
- Experience in mining, industrial, or heavy construction environments
Compensation / Benefits
Pay Range: $25.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience, fabrication knowledge, blueprint reading ability, and fit-up experience.
