The Role: Warehouse Manager
The purpose of this role is to oversee all warehouse and yard operations to ensure efficient stock control, storage, and housekeeping. It exists to maintain asset integrity through facility and equipment maintenance while leading the warehouse team to meet health, safety, and environmental standards. The main focus areas include operational management, stock accuracy, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize previous warehouse management experience to direct all stock control, packaging, and yard operations.
- Review and sign off on all receiving and returns paperwork and maintain container and pallet records.
- Manage service, repairs, and maintenance for forklifts, vehicles, and the general building.
- Oversee stock counts and generate movement reports to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Manage warehouse personnel through performance monitoring, training, and enforcement of HSE policies.
- Order and issue Personal Protective Equipment and monitor consistent usage across departments.
- Execute ad hoc requests from branch or top management to support business interests.
- Apply chemical industry knowledge to manage resources and warehouse space effectively.
About You
- Minimum Matric certificate.
- Previous warehouse management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence others.
- High level of numerical accuracy and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain assertive and solution-focused under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience with Pastel or similar ERP systems (advantageous).
- Knowledge of the chemical industry (highly advantageous).
