Job Summary
A waiter/waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a restaurant or dining establishment. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Present menus and explain daily specials or promotions
- Take accurate food and drink orders and communicate them to kitchen staff
- Serve food and beverages promptly and correctly
- Check on customers regularly to ensure satisfaction
- Handle customer complaints politely and efficiently
- Prepare tables before guests arrive (cleaning, setting utensils, etc.)
- Clear tables after customers leave
- Process bills and handle payments (cash, card, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the dining area
- Follow all health and safety regulations
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills for handling bills and payments
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Physical stamina (standing and walking for long periods)
- Previous experience is an advantage but not always required
