Grandma Did It Better is a curated luxury-vintage house. We source, restore, and present rare designer pieces with the care of a couture atelier. We’re hiring a skilled tailor to restore rare garments and handle client alterations across our NYC locations.
What you’ll do
- Restore rare vintage pieces from the 1930s–1960s: repairs, reweaving, lining, beading, and period-appropriate finishing
- Perform precise customer alterations and custom fittings on premium garments
- Assess incoming pieces for condition and restoration needs, preserving original construction
- Source period-appropriate materials and advise on preservation
What we’re looking for
- Proven tailoring experience, ideally with luxury, couture, bridal, or vintage garments
- Mastery of garment construction, hand-sewing, and fine finishing
- Experience with fragile or aged fabrics (silk, beaded, structured pieces a plus)
- Strong eye for fit and period detail, plus great client-facing communication
Pay: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour
