Key responsibilities include:
*Ensure the production plan is executed to satisfy demand and on time in full deliveries to customers.
*Ensure standard operating procedures are implemented, reviewed and updated to standardize the production processes and machine operations.
*Ensure conformance to standard operating procedures through planned job observations, training and coaching of operators.
*Ensure all the production KPI’s relating the relevant functional areas are achieved, and structured problem solving is conducted to determine the root cause and solutions for KPI’s not achieved.
*Manage and control the raw material usages to minimize excessive spoilage, prevent rework, reduce operational costs, and manage control working capital according to the company guidelines and requirements.
*Monitor the production costs to ensure adherence to budget, minimize cost of production, and maximize profits to achieve the strategic business objectives.
*Participate in the weekly S&OP meetings review the progress of the production schedules and agree on corrective actions to meet demand on time in full and address challenges.
*Conduct daily production meetings to review the KPI performance of the relevant functional area of the previous 24 hours and develop plans and priorities for the next 24 hours to meet the weekly production plan.
*Compile the weekly and monthly performance reports to provide feedback on actual performance against the KPI’s for the relevant functional areas.
*Ensure shift handovers between the outgoing and incoming team leaders take place to ensure shifts are hand over effectively and all critical information is understood and transferred to facilitate continuity between shifts.
*Ensure stock takes and cycle counts are done accurately in accordance with the procurement policy and procedures.
*Implement the autonomous maintenance strategy to improve operator ownership and ensure operators are competent and skilled to perform their autonomous maintenance responsibilities successfully.
*Support the asset management strategy to achieve optimum unit cost of production.
*Ensure the Unit is resourced with the right people with the right skills to achieve the asset management strategy and key performance indicators (KPI’s).
*Manage the maintenance activities within the Unit budget and address discrepancies to ensure the business strategy and objectives are achieved.
*Participate in the analysis of equipment to identify potential failures and develop preventive maintenance schedules to eliminate machine failures.
*Implement the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure the quality parameters, protocols, procedures, and product specifications are followed and adhered to during the production process.
*Lead and participate in team-based problem solving to identify root causes of quality defects and take corrective actions to bring the production process back into control.
*Manage and participate in quality related improvement projects to reduce spoilage and improve the quality of products and compliance to the quality system.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
*Matric, Degree in Engineering/Production Management
*3-5 Years’ experience as a Team Leader/Manager in a manufacturing environment
*Manufacturing knowledge, ERP system knowledge, Safety& Environmental management knowledge
*Basic understanding of financial management, Budgeting knowledge, ISO systems knowledge
*Quality management system knowledge, Product knowledge, Raw material knowledge, Customer knowledge, Competitors knowledge, Knowledge of Operational Excellence methodologies.
