Job Summary:
The Business Loan Underwriter is responsible for assessing and evaluating business loan applications to determine creditworthiness and lending risk. The role involves reviewing financial statements, bank statements, credit reports, and supporting documentation to make informed lending decisions while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and analyze business loan applications and supporting documentation.
* Assess financial statements, cash flow, bank statements, tax returns, and credit reports.
* Evaluate risk and determine loan eligibility, terms, and approval recommendations.
* Verify applicant information and identify potential fraud or discrepancies.
* Communicate with brokers, sales teams, and applicants to obtain additional information when required.
* Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines and regulatory standards.
* Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and supporting rationale.
* Monitor loan quality and contribute to process improvements.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in business lending, credit analysis, or underwriting.
* Strong understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis.
* Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in financial software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
* Experience with commercial lending, merchant cash advances, or small business financing.
