SUMMARY:

To plan, organise, monitor and control the production processes and resources in the designated production departments to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality output. This role is designed to provide practical, hands-on training and development in all areas of production management

POSITION INFO:

Key Performance Areas

  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance to policies and procedures

Operations Management

  • Control daily and monthly tonnage
  • Plan production schedules, workflow and resource allocation while effectively managing delays
  • Ensure conformance to production plans and schedules
  • Manage stock and raw materials, ordering material as required
  • Develop and update operating procedures in conjunction with training department
  • Manning of positions e.g., shift systems, backups, rotating, etc
  • Implement new products and processes, conducting the necessary trials of proposed
  • Control waste of designated department

Quality Management

  • Manage product quality

Customer / Supplier Liaison

  • Liaison with maintenance department regarding production schedules and downtimes
  • Develop and support customers with product specification design

Cost Management

  • Compile biannual budgets
  • Manage and control budget

Safety and Environment Management

  • Adherence of OSHACT policies and regulations
  • Adherence to the requirements of the 16.2
  • Adherence to environmental policies and regulations according to legislation

Reporting and Administration

  • Schedule and conduct plant, continuous improvement, project, KPI, Health and Safety meetings
  • Compile and manage production records
  • Compile and manage people record
  • Verify production bonus calculations

People Management

  • Identify manpower and skill level requirements
  • Provide on-the-job training where required
  • Maintain a positive industrial relations and teamwork climate
  • Provide input, monitor and control adherence to policies and procedures
  • Provide effective staff communication

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Education:

  • BEng / BSc Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgy)

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years'' experience in a wire manufacturing environment
