Key responsibilities include:
*Assess work, estimate time lines, executes repairs.
*to prevent repeat failure. Attend to repairs both in tool room and production.
*Conduct proper RCA of all breakdowns and take corrective action (or report on recommended corrective action) to prevent recurrence.
*Complete (close and confirm) the breakdown works order on JDE once the work has been done
*Will be required to work within a diverse team.
*Participate in planned maintenance plus shutdowns where required.
*Analyze failure causes and apply prevention measures to improve tooling life and reduce failures.
*Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
*Timelines should be adhered to.
*Work to defined safety standards and perform weekly BBS, fully participate in executing 5S recommendations and conduct toolbox checks,
*Improve tooling reliability by conducting proper repairs and identifying problems and solutions during planned maintenance, Ensure good housekeeping practices in workshops and change parts area.
*Ensure all work done is recorded in works orders to create equipment health tracker and to track spares usage history.
*Supervise, mentor and coach apprentice as may be allocated.
Quality Control.
*The general condition of tooling parts and die frames must always be good condition.
*Responsible for ensuring Tooling conforms to tool care standards and specifications.
*Keep Tooling spec files in a safe and clean condition
*Keep QA equipment in a safe area and calibrated. Keep calibration records
Maintenance.
*Work Ensure Tooling is maintained as per planned mileage.
*Work to defined standards and specifications when recondition tooling.
*Complete spot checks and measure tooling wear during line maintenance.
*Participate in problem solving to identify root causes of quality defects and take corrective action to bring the production process back in control.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
*Matric / N3 with Tool Maker Trade Test (Red Seal)
*Basic Press tooling setting
*Must be able to operate all Tool Room equipment.
*Must be able to read and interpret drawings
*Must have reasonable machine knowledge to manufacture component from drawings
*Identification of various tool-steel and their uses
*Must be computer literate
*Must have ability to work within a team-based environment
*Must be prepared to work shifts, overtime and do standby
*Must have own transport and driver's license
*5 years tool room experience (preferable with press tooling)
