Job Purpose
The Tile Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and refining ceramic tile designs that align with market trends, customer preferences, and the company's product strategy. The role involves creating innovative patterns, textures, colors, and finishes while collaborating closely with production, quality, and marketing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet KEDA's quality standards. The position combines creativity with technical knowledge of ceramic tile manufacturing and digital design tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative ceramic tile designs, including patterns, textures, colors, and surface finishes.
- Conduct market research to identify current and emerging trends in ceramic tile design and interior décor.
- Create digital artwork and production-ready design files using industry-standard design software.
- Prepare tile mock-ups, prototypes, and sample boards for review and customer presentations.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure designs can be successfully manufactured.
- Work closely with the glaze and printing teams to achieve desired colors, textures, and surface effects.
- Review sample productions and recommend design improvements where necessary.
- Maintain and organize the company's tile design library and artwork database.
- Support the development of new product collections for residential, commercial, and export markets.
- Ensure all designs meet company quality standards, customer expectations, and production specifications.
- Liaise with the Sales and Marketing departments to provide design support during product launches.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product innovation and competitiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Product Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years' experience in tile design, ceramics manufacturing, interior products, or a related design environment.
- Experience in the ceramic tile industry is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong creativity and artistic ability.
- Excellent understanding of color theory, patterns, textures, and aesthetics.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
- Knowledge of ceramic tile manufacturing processes and digital printing technology is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to translate market trends into commercially viable products.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good project management and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet product development timelines.
