Octavia Carbon is the global south’s first Direct Air Capture (DAC) company. We design, build, and deploy our DAC technology in Kenya. We are looking for a dynamic engineer to join our Product team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a good mastery of basic principles in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and proficiency in CFD simulation.  For your application to be considered, your resume should accompany the assignment below. 

Job Description.

  • Model, conduct, verify, and validate CFD studies that inform optimal capture of CO2 by the sorbent and communicate design insights.
  •  Size and select efficient fan/blowers based on system curves developed by validated CFD studies that offer optimal capture.
  • Model, conduct, verify, and validate CFD studies that inform optimal heating of the sorbent.
  • Design an optimal heating system for the reactor based on validated CFD studies.
  •  Design and conduct experiments to validate CFD studies and design assumptions.
  •  Develop assembly, testing, and maintenance SOPs for all designed and procured items.
  •  Engage and vet suppliers before procurement of items and conduct well-documented QC checks upon arrival.
  •  Any other duties that you may be asked to do by management.

Required Skills: 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks/Inventor). 
  • Knowledge in simulation software (Ansys Fluent)
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics. 
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
