Job Summary:
Our client a leading a leading company in the solar energy sector, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Procurement Officer responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services related to solar power projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge of solar components and systems to ensure procurement decisions align with project specifications, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement procurement strategies for solar equipment, materials, and services.
· Identify and evaluate suppliers and contractors in the renewable energy sector.
· Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs, and purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
· Review technical specifications and ensure purchased items meet required standards and compatibility.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve best value.
· Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and inventory levels.
· Work closely with project engineers, finance, and logistics teams to align procurement with project timelines.
· Conduct supplier performance evaluations and maintain approved vendor lists.
· Monitor market trends, new solar technologies, and component innovations.
· Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and sustainability standards.
Technical Knowledge Required:
· Understanding of solar PV systems and components (modules, inverters, mounting structures, batteries, charge controllers, cabling, etc.).
· Familiarity with electrical and mechanical specifications for solar installations.
· Knowledge of importation processes, customs documentation, and logistics for solar products.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings and bill of quantities (BOQs) for solar projects.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Renewable Energy.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement within the solar or renewable energy industry.
· Certification in Procurement and Supplies (CIPS, KISM, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
· Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office Suite.
· Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
