Nucleus Industries is looking for a hands-on, experienced Technical Assistant to join our team in Centurion, Pretoria.
You'll work closely with our Senior Technicians on the daily maintenance, servicing, and installation of industrial equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and strict adherence to safety and company standards, policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operations & Assembly: Operate and maintain mechanical equipment (crate washers, compactors, balers etc.) conveyors, and related equipment including performing delicate component alignment.
- Quality Control & Testing: Test products to meet performance standards, checking for defects and ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventative maintenance, such as oiling/greasing machines, and identify/fix mechanical or control system malfunctions.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to Health and Safety policies and environmental regulations, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
- Documentation & Reporting: Fill out job cards, log used spares, and complete administrative paperwork or digital forms accurately and on time. Compile shift schedules, maintain accurate production records, including batch records, logs, and quality documentation
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with Technical Services to optimize efficiency, minimize waste, and implement improvements.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Education & Training: Grade 12 / A relevant technical NQF qualification (e.g., N3 to N6) or trade-related diploma is highly advantageous.
- Experience: 2 – 3 years working as a technician, with the ability to do fault finding and conducting repairs to mechanical equipment.
- Language proficiency: Must be able to converse fluently (speak, read, write) in English and Afrikaans
- Licenses: A valid South African Driver's License (Code 8 or Code 10) with a clean driving record and own transport.
- Skills: Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude, ability to read simple technical instructions/drawings, and physical fitness to handle heavy equipment.
Package & Remuneration
Nucleus Industries offers a competitive "Cost to Company" (CTC) remuneration package and will allow the incumbent to structure the package to his / her requirements. Tools and relevant PPE will be supplied by the company. Electronic equipment (cell phone) will be provided, inclusive of data and airtime.
