Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Tailor role based in Gaborone. The Tailor will be responsible for constructing, altering, and repairing garments, including measuring clients, performing fittings, and ensuring proper garment drape and comfort. Day-to-day tasks include dressmaking, detailed tailoring work, cutting and sewing fabrics, finishing seams, and making style and fit adjustments based on client requests. The Tailor will interact directly with customers to discuss design options, provide expert advice on fit and fabric, and maintain high standards of customer service. The role also involves keeping the workspace organized, managing basic inventory of materials, and meeting agreed timelines for all orders.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Tailoring and Dressmaking skills, with the ability to construct, alter, and finish garments to a high standard.
- Candidates should possess precise Fitting skills, including accurate measuring, pinning, and adjusting garments for comfort and style.
- Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to consult with clients, understand requirements, and provide clear guidance.
- Experience working in a tailoring shop or garment production environment is beneficial.
- Ability to operate and maintain sewing machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and reliability in meeting deadlines.
- Basic numeracy skills for measurements and pattern adjustments; formal training in tailoring or fashion design is an advantage.
