Scope includes:
- All the supply chain stakeholders management from supplier to on-floor in stores,
- End-to-end Foods supply chain: supplier ? distribution centres ? stores ? customer
- From purchase order creation on the supplier to on floor store delivery.
- Local and International Supply Chains (Imports)
- Local and imported merchandise Supply Chains
- All supply chain models – warehouse, flowthrough, cross dock, DSD & omnichannel
- All logistics management activities – inbound and outbound transportation management, warehousing, order fulfillment, logistics network design, inventory control
- Logistics activities: transport, warehousing, fulfilment, inventory, network optimization
Minimum Requirements
- Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain/Logistics or engineering
- Accounting(CIMA, CA[SA]) – advantageous
- Experience in a Foods retail environment
- Experience in value chain integration and stakeholder management
- Minimum 5 years experience in starting up optimization or transformative inititiative leading a cross-functional team (from concept to execution)
- Minimum of 5 years Project and Change Management experience – illustrate good understanding of relevant methods, approaches, tools, etc.
- 6-8 year relevant experience in supply chain & logistics for local, imports and omnichannel
- 6-8 year relavant experience in management
- Process analysis and management
- Working knowledge of systems and IT
- Experience in contract management including relevant legal requirement
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategy, Planning & Operating Model
- Provide input into and translate the Foods Supply Chain strategy into a clear, executable operating plan
- Develop and implement a Supply Chain optimisation roadmap, aligned to business priorities
- Drive alignment across stakeholders to ensure integrated end-to-end execution
2. Performance, Scorecard & Value Delivery
- Develop, align, and manage the Foods Supply Chain scorecard, including service, cost, availability, and waste
- Set and manage annual budgets, targets, and performance expectations
- Continuously review and analyse performance to ensure delivery against targets and continuous improvement
- Participation, integration and partnering with international supply chain (ISC)
- Participation, integration and implementation support of new value chain initiatives & projects through partnering with key value chain stakeholders (sourcing, planning, stores)
- Maintain supply chain cost allocation matrix and ensure proper allocation of supply chain costs to relevant stakeholders.
3. Perishables, Flow-Through & Temperature Management
- Optimise end-to-end perishables flow-through and warehouse operations to ensure freshness, availability, and minimal waste
- Maintain strict temperature management and cold chain integrity across storage, handling, and transport
4. Capacity Planning, Flow & Network Optimisation
- Plan and manage inbound and outbound volumes and capacity (annual, monthly, weekly, seasonal)
- Analyse and optimise network flow, warehouse capacity, and stock ageing
5. People Leadership & Talent Management
- Lead and manage a team to deliver against business and functional objectives
- Conduct performance management (IPM) and agreed development planning
6. Execution, Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Implement optimisation initiatives through logistics operations or supply chain development (process, systems, MHE, infrastructure)
7. Data, Insights & Decision Support
- Analyse, monitor, and manage supply chain performance, capacity, and flow with data-driven recommendations
8. Cost & Financial Management
- Maintain and optimise the supply chain cost allocation framework
- Prepare and communicate budget parameters (volumes, price movements, cost drivers)
- Support scenario planning for cost pressures (fuel, FX, external disruptions)
9. Standards, Governance & Capability Building
- Support logistics in achieving operational excellence standards and compliance (OEC)
10. Stakeholder & Supplier Management
- Build strong partnerships across the value chain to ensure aligned execution and shared accountability
- Manage key external relationships where applicable (e.g. returns, reverse logistics, service providers)
