– Camp Cook ($23 / hr) – 2 years of professional culinary experience required

– Food Service Worker ($21 / hr) – 6 months of professional kitchen/dishes experience required

These roles will work together in preparing, serving, and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service in a dynamic environment. Your positive attitude and attention to detail will ensure that everyone enjoys nutritious, delicious meals in a welcoming setting. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food handling, catering, and hospitality while contributing to a fun-filled camp atmosphere.

Responsibilities

1)  Preparing Food 

  • Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as required for daily menu items and off-site trips.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling (including possible allergens and dates) of prepped ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent contamination. 
  • Assist in creating recipe adjustments and meal preparations based on guest or operational needs, allergies, and/or dietary restrictions.

2) Serving Meals 

  • Ensure the meals are served on time at designated times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as determined by the Camp Director.
  • Ensure meals are served according to camp schedules and in compliance with portioning guidelines to minimize food and drink waste.
  • Monitor serving lines and replenish food supplies promptly during meal service.
  • Assist in accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies, and special meal requests.
  • Provide a positive, professional, and friendly atmosphere during meal service to enhance the dining experience for campers and staff. 

3) Cleanliness and Organization of the Kitchen

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen, including surfaces, floors, and storage areas.   
  • Ensure all equipment, utensils, and kitchen tools are cleaned, sanitized, and stored appropriately after use.   
  • Wear appropriate kitchen attire and maintain hygiene practices among all kitchen staff including and safety equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen areas and equipment to identify and address cleanliness or maintenance issues.   
  • Conduct and record daily temperature inspections of all refrigerators, coolers, and freezers. 
  • Work with Cook, Directors, and Department of Health inspectors to complete pre-season and during season inspections. 
  • Open and close seasonal camp kitchen facilities to specified standards.
  • Under the direction and supervision of the Cook, receive and unload the delivery of orders to ensure accuracy and quality of received goods and return any damaged or defective products. 
  • Store food and supply deliveries appropriately according to NYS Dept. of health safety regulations.
  • Follow all NYS Dept. of Health and Dept. of Labor laws and guidelines for food preparation and working with minors under the age of 18 (Camper-Volunteers) in the kitchen.

Experience

  • Prior experience in food service environments such as restaurants, catering, or banquet settings is highly desirable
  • Experience working in fine dining or hospitality roles demonstrates attention to detail and customer service excellence
  • Background in dietary aide work or food industry roles provides valuable knowledge of food safety protocols
  • Barista experience or restaurant experience can be beneficial for multitasking in fast-paced settings
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations and safety standards is essential for maintaining compliance during service
  • Previous catering or banquet experience enhances ability to manage large groups efficiently
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude are key to delivering exceptional service in a team-oriented environment

Pay: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour
