The Strategic Assistant will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and their Executive Assistant to effectively manage the Executive Office. In addition, they will be responsible for all data analysis and consolidation, production of reports and data sets. The Strategic Assistant is expected to understand, interpret and interrogate data to make meaningful recommendations. A solid understanding of the company and its business units’ financials and strategic direction is imperative to drive decision-making.

Key accountabilities

Functional management

The Strategic Assistant

  • supports the CEO by managing their office and ensuring that all administrative activities within the CEO's office are managed timeously
  • coordinates all communication and other stakeholder engagement on behalf of the CEO
  • works closely with the CEO on data analysis, strategic reporting and general management information
  • is responsible for effective channeling and prioritisation of information
  • collates management information and monitors project progress
  • builds management reports and creates presentations based on interpreting information from various data sources
  • analyses operational data and reports on trends to inform decisions and behaviours
  • analyses and reports on various financial and underwriting metrics and trends
  • assumes responsibility for the implementation of ad hoc projects within the CEO portfolio
  • coordinates all activities and reporting to support and guide the implementation of the business unit’s strategic plans that contribute to the overall success of the company's strategy
  • develop and maintain strategic relationships with the internal and external stakeholders to streamline operational processes.

Education and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting or actuarial science
  • Two years’ short-term Insurance-specific analytical or financial experience is essential.
  • Project management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in extracting, analysing data and reporting and presenting trends.
