Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Store Associate to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining store merchandising, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to develop retail sales skills and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience with POS systems, cashiering, and merchandising is a plus, along with strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude. Bilingual abilities are preferred to better serve diverse customers.
This position reports directly to the assistant manager or manager, depending upon the size of the retail store. This position is responsible for keeping the store clean, performing water testing, fill pool additive jugs, and helping with customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their shopping needs
- Operate POS systems for sales transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing
- Stock shelves and organize merchandise to ensure attractive displays
- Conduct product demos and upsell items to enhance customer experience and sales
- Maintain proper merchandising standards throughout the store
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking and replenishing products
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Ensure the store maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
- Handle phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy following proper phone etiquette
- Support supervising staff in daily store operations as needed
- Support maintenance technicians with out of store services, such as pool cleaning/maintenance as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery stores is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems, cashiering, and basic retail math skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse customers
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Experience in supervising or leading small teams is a plus
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve a broader customer base
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads as required
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Position requires constant walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to answer phones/perform functions on a computer necessary when interacting with customers and or the corporate office. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
