Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with physicians’ prescriptions and established protocols.
- Offer professional consultation to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions to promote safe and effective treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to review prescriptions, clarify instructions, and ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain meticulous records of prescriptions dispensed, inventory levels, and patient interactions in compliance with legal requirements.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and controlling medication expiration to minimize waste.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, health regulations, and confidentiality standards within the pharmacy environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to pharmacy interns or junior staff members to foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Stay current with pharmaceutical developments, new medications, and regulatory updates through continuous education.
Experience
- Valid licensure as a registered pharmacist in the relevant jurisdiction with current certification.
- Proven experience working as a pharmacist in a retail or healthcare setting, demonstrating proficiency in medication dispensing and patient counseling.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmacy law regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records is preferred.
