The Cybersecurity team is looking for a new Level 1 SOC Analyst to join our growing Security Operations Centre. But before you hit the apply button, best you read on. Yup, that means you work shifts, weekends, public holidays (News Year’s Eve included, we’re nerds remember!) and even on off-days if there is an incident that needs to be responded to. We’re a group of mostly introverted and devoted intellectuals trying to be the best that we can be. And one more thing, no one goes home until the job is done. So, onto the long, mind-numbing list of what our People Champion (also known as our HR Officer) expects from you if you are to cross over into our galaxy:
A Level 1 SOC Analyst is an operational role, focusing on real time security event monitoring and security incident investigations. As a Level 1 SOC Analyst you will actively monitor security threats and risks involving customers’ infrastructure. More specifically, the key responsibilities are as follows:
- Continuously monitor the customers' infrastructure to identify security incidents
- Collect data and context necessary to initiate Level 2 escalation
- Respond on security incidents
- Monitor health of customer security sensors and SIEM infrastructure
- Work closely with Level 2 & Level 3 analysts towards the continuous improvement of the service
- Execution of SOC procedures
- Triage security events and incidents, detect anomalies, and report remediation actions
- Analysis of phishing emails reported by internal end users
- Follow up on remediation activities
- Provide input into customer reports & prepare scheduled & ad-hoc reports
- Prepare research reports on the latest vulnerabilities
- Participate in training as per our training programme
- Meet KPIs applicable to Roles & Responsibilities
- Partake in cyber activities as scheduled by SOC Lead
Job Schedule: 24×7 rotational shift environment. Overtime may be required from time to time as well as working unscheduled shifts.
Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years working experience in cybersecurity or related fields such as network and systems administration.
- Tons of passion for cybersecurity. This is non-negotiable.
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or demonstrated interest in the Cyber Security domain will be considered a plus. Any degree coupled with a demonstrated passion for Cybersecurity or No degree and a brilliant cyber mind will all be considered.
- Capable of working shifts (24/7/365) and willing to work beyond allocated shift hours to get the job done.
- Solid understanding of network and computer security, security testing, software security.
- Experience with Windows & Linux platforms.
- Scripting skill set (Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell) will be considered a plus.
- Strong analytical, critical observation skills.
- Able to follow SOC processes and procedures while maintaining the flexibility to “think outside the box”.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are an absolute must.
- Collaborative and team focus.
- Ability to work shifts and prioritize tasks.
- Experience in Microsoft office products, in particular Word and Excel (must be able to demonstrate ability to do advanced analysis on excel)
- No criminal record and should not be listed on ITC (Checks will be performed)
