The Role

Responsible for the Operational leadership of the Cape Town site in South Africa and specifically enzymes products, in order to meet Customer and business needs through using direct authority, influence and matrix management to achieve the strategic future state design of Enzymes products for the business under a compliant process.

Responsible for developing the strategic direction of the site, in conjunction with Enzymes UK for operational alignment, commercial and product management teams to deliver growth and productivity targets for BBI Enzymes product portfolio, ensuring the site delivers against the annual business plan.

Responsible for the setting and cascading of the Goals & Goal tree and ensuring line of sight from strategy to execution across site, ensuring clear accountability and measurement of progress via Standard Operations work. Responsible for adherence to leader standard work and its continual improvement through the engagement of staff, eradicating waste and improving flow and productivity.

Govern the technical input and direction of the enzymes portfolio for the SA site ensuring that the right focussed operational projects are prioritised to support productivity and successful execution of commercialisations. Responsible to provide and develop training and organisational development for staff that provides growth and engagement whilst reducing attrition and increasing employee morale.

In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Ensures safe and compliant operation of the Cape Town site in line with company values and ethics.
  • Responsible for the Operation of the site and management of improvement plans: in conjunction with supply chain, commercial and product management.
  • Responsible for management of:
  • Supply Agreements for raw materials (in conjugation with Supply chain)
  • Inventory levels to ensure they remain within operational target
  • Delivery performance – OTIF
  • Utilization and support the ERP process continuously improving data accuracy
  • Introduction of recognized world class manufacturing standards and methods throughout the productive process
  • Responsible manager for maintaining Occupational health and safety standards
  • Continuous improvement in asset management, with plant renewal including planning and managing CAPEX budget
  • Development of a TQM culture with ISO and GMP compliance on site
  • Responsible for developing a succession plan to improve site skills risk and retain star performers
  • Develop the site and Enzymes product road map in line with UK and 2022 management plan and long term strategic value creation plan for the business
  • Govern technical input and support technical trouble shooting utilising technical SA team
  • Contribute to the overall continuous improvement culture of the business by eliminating waste and maximising productivity
  • Develops their leaders and organisation to deliver world class operations through training, experiences and organisational moves to keep the site and its products competitive and relevant
  • Creates and environment where people are treated with respect and listened to enable continuous improvement and development morale.

You Should Apply If

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in world class leading operations
  • Experience in life sciences, medical device or corresponding regulated environment

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience leading teams in an operational and matrix environment.
  • Experience of applying Lean and/ or Six Sigma techniques to resolve problems
  • Professional level healthcare, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience preferred, with prior supervisory and management responsibilities
  • Track record of successful developing leaders and organisations.
  • Working Knowledge of Enzymes production, demonstrating string technical knowledge
