Job Description

Our Talent Team is on the hunt for a Silos Shift Coordinator for their Grocery Division. The role will be based in Randfontein and will report into the Procurement Manager.
The Silos Shift Coordinator is responsible for ensuring efficient and seamless silo operations to support the upstream and downstream value chain across Pet Food, Oil Packing, and Sorghum operations. The role is critical in maintaining business continuity through effective stock management, operational coordination, and team leadership.
Key deliverables of the role include maintaining effective and efficient stock control, safeguarding of high value raw materials, and leading a team of 17 employees. The role also requires proactive variance management and thorough investigation of discrepancies, close collaboration with Procurement and Inward Handling teams to ensure efficient offloading and optimal stock availability, and strict adherence to SHERQ principles.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 6 National Diploma in Agriculture, Engineering, or related field.
- 3 – 5 years minimum experience in FMCG, preferably a foods processing environment.
Knowledge And Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to grain storage.
- Proven track record of managing a team and achieving operational goals.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Duties & Responsibilities
Stock Control & Material Management
- Ensure accurate and efficient stock control of all raw materials within the silos.
- Safeguard raw materials to prevent losses, contamination, or quality deterioration.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with Commodity Procurement team where required to ensure availability in line with production requirements.
Operational Coordination
- Oversee daily silo operations, ensuring smooth intake, storage, and transfer processes.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Inward Handling teams to ensure efficient offloading and stock flow.
- Support uninterrupted supply to production plants (Pet Food, Oil Packing, and Sorghum).
- Develop and implement Silos preventative maintenance and repair schedules. Coordinate stock management with Commodity Procurement to align with the maintenance schedule requirements.
- Communicate any breakdowns or receiving delays with Commodity Procurement team to prevent standing time cost implications.
Variance Management
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve stock variances.
- Implement corrective actions to minimize discrepancies and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of all variances.
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of 17 employees.
- Ensure clear communication of expectations, performance standards, and operational priorities.
- Drive accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Drive RCL values.
SHERQ Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the team.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly inspections and submit to SHERQ department on time.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented where necessary.
- Conduct Toolbox talk training and maintain training records

- Manage inventory levels of sundry items and order supplies as needed.
