About the Role
The Shipping Accountant is responsible for managing all financial transactions related to shipping operations, ensuring compliance with ministerial regulations, reviewing authority invoices, and supporting accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Record and process all shipping-related financial transactions in the ERP system.
- Review and verify invoices issued by government authorities and ensure compliance with relevant ministerial decisions.
- Follow up on authority invoices and reconcile them according to updated regulations.
- Prepare FDA for various Egyptian ports. Maintain strong knowledge of the types of invoices and charges issued by each Egyptian port.
- Review customer accounts, perform reconciliations, and ensure accurate exchange rate adjustments.
- Communicate professionally with vessel owners via email and respond to their financial inquiries.
- Coordinate with the logistics and operations teams to ensure accurate shipping documentation.
- Prepare journal entries related to shipping and port charges.
- Support month-end closing activities and provide detailed shipping revenues reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Administration Major Finance or Accounting
Required Skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in email correspondence with vessel owners.
- Excellent command of English written and spoken.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in preparing FDA for multiple ports.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and port authority procedures.
- Previous experience in maritime accounting or shipping agencies.
